WCAR
GALLOPING to Canada and Europe, RAISING the bar along the way
West
Coast, USA - West Coast Active Riders continues
to make big strides. Bound for both Spruce Meadows and Europe, WCAR
team riders have an exciting summer ahead.
Numerous
trials determined the five teams heading for Prix de Nations competition.
Beginning in the spring, riders vying for a spot on one the Spruce
Teams competed in four trials spread over three horse shows
at the Palms Classic, the Oaks and Showpark respectively. Mother’s
Day marked the conclusion of the trials, and when the Sunday classics
at Showpark’s Ranch & Coast ended, four Spruce teams were
announced and sashed by this year’s fabulous WCAR Spruce program
organizer Tammy Chipko.
Congratulations
to 1.10 Team Member Dylan Kornbluth and Amazing
Grace who jumped completely clean in every trial.
“A special round of applause for all
WCAR members who applied and tried for a spot on one of the Spruce
teams (me included!). It was a close race all the way to the finish,”
Chipko commented. “Good luck to everyone competing at Spruce
and in Europe.”
After
a three year hiatus, with George Morris’s encouragement, WCAR
decided to host trials and send a team to Europe. After five trials
in just two weeks of back to back horse shows, Del Mar National
and Showpark’s Ranch & Coast, four women rose to the top.
Joie Gatlin and Suncal’s King
automatically qualified by earning a spot on the World Cup team
and joining her will be Francie Steinwedell and
Naranco, Susan Artes and Presto
B as well as Jenni Martin and V
de Pomme. Bernie Traurig and Dale
Harvey will both serve as Chef d’Equipe.
“After
George rallied the west coast we decided to ride to the occasion
and make it happen. The tour is coming together and we look forward
to gaining some International experience for our West Coast showjumpers,”
explained WCAR’s Chairman Dale Harvey.
WCAR wishes to thank all the fabulous sponsors
and contributors whose support makes all the difference.
A standing ovation to everyone at Margaret’s
Café-Pony Expresso, our cooks extraordinaire
Will Simpson, Bernie Traurig and Harvey Kallen, as well as our fabulous
cheerleaders Tammy Chipko, Mark Bone and Tasha Visokay.
WCAR couldn’t have done it without you! Congratulations
to all the auction bidders, especially Barb Ellison,
Mandy Porter, Marion Lowry, Jami Heidegger, Morgan Taylor and John
Bragg. With so many more to mention, hats off to
Leslie Steele, Traci Barmen, Jenni Martin, Steve McAllister, Patricia
